Fool

Fool

Jimmy appeared

With face cindered

Clothes black and thoughts too.

Nectar streamed

'You won’t get her back.

She won’t want you. Fool.'

So Jimmy spoke, then reappeared

Gallowed and with neck broken

Eyes startled, bulging from the death

Sudden, striking

But still he spat.

Jerked. 'Fool.'

He appeared with your clothes.

He appeared with your thoughts.

Your movements, your jokes.

He stole you. He stole you whole.

And he stole you from me

In your cape and perfume. 'Fool.'

'Not good enough fool.

Not good enough not good enough

Not good enough fool.'

Oh Jimmy,

Your pleasure makes you pathetic

Your treachery prophetic.

'You trusted me with messages.'

I once sheltered you.

'Fool.'

Lock fast this bastard door.

Seal the hail and repression

Drive it like swine

Beyond, beyond the truth hiding in your thoughts and words

And promise. You.

'Me?'

Yes Jimmy, I will never forgive you. The truth will out.

Now, who is the fool?
